Sa Calobra Cycling Route

We tackled Sa Calobra from Port de Pollenca at sunrise to beat the coach traffic, grinding up 7,600 feet across 75 miles of Mallorca’s most challenging cycling. The route climbs through Coll de Femenia before hitting the main event at Coll dels Reis, where the twisting descent to Sa Calobra reveals why cyclists fly here from across Europe. Those hairpins drop you to sea level where the bay sits tucked between cliffs, then it’s straight back up the same brutal gradient.

Our extended loop takes the Caimari turn on the return instead of heading straight to Pollenca, adding fast descents and rolling terrain through Inca and Sa Pobla that let you actually enjoy the ride after demolishing your legs on the main climb. Book bike transport if needed but we recommend riding from base to warm up properly. Bring cash for the photo stops and cafes that dot the route, and check wind forecasts before committing to the coastal sections where crosswinds can turn sketchy fast.

The number one climb in Mallorca provides stunning views as you work and sweat towards the ultimate summit of Coll Dels Reis to see what you then have the opportunity to free wheel all the way down.

On the way to the top you’ll be climbing up via Coll De Femenia coming from Port De Pollenca. There are cycle transport services but these need booking in advance, we advise waking your legs up on the climbs and you’ll enjoy the decents even more!

Overall on this ride you will cover 75 miles if you take the extended version that we have created along wit a killer 7,600 feet. The route is well worth the views though and the added extra miles you get to enjoy. On the return instead of heading straight back to Pollenca you take the right hand route to Caimari.

This throws in a whole new level of fun on a speedy and twisty decent taking you back via Inca then directly through the centre of Sa Pobla. On the most popular parts of the routes you’ll find plenty of photo and refreshment opportunities so bring some cash to grab that well deserved and needed by this point coffee.
