My tactic up until now for those cooler evenings around the campfire has been extra layers of clothes, or when things get really desperate, I’ll wear my dry robe that I have for outdoor swimming. What I liked about the Sherpa Outdoor Duvet, is that it’s plenty big enough to wrap around while sitting on a camp chair, but is much less bulky than the dry robe. The materials the duvet is made of are perfect for this job too – the inner lining is super soft and comfortable against your skin, while the water repellent lining protects you from any dampness where you’re sitting.
We brought the duvet on a test camp outing where we were camping with my nieces and they loved being able to use it as a picnic blanket, sitting on it and wrapping it around their shoulders while round the camp fire.

The duvet comes in a handy bag, very similar to a sleeping bag, and while it packs down small enough for easy transport there wasn’t a battle to get it back in the bag at the end of the trip. The fleece material is soft and yet doesn’t act like Velcro in the same way that some fleece materials do, getting things struck to them that never come out. In fact, we used it on the floor surrounded by wood chipping and it was very easy to shake off any pieces before packing it away to come home.
While we haven’t yet used it anywhere sandy, I imagine sand would come off just as easily – perfect for those evenings on the beach watching the sun set! It’s also machine washable at home, so it’s easy to get it back into perfect shape ready for your next adventure.
